Zinc-plating

Shotgun shell projectiles for waterfowl may be zinc-plated to help reduce corrosion and rust, as many waterfowl hunters will find themselves splashed or soaked completely throughout their hunt. Some hunters may also experience brackish waters and will want to ensure their ammo will not be ruined by the salty conditions. Zinc plated shot resists these conditions better than lead shot, and has also been reported to take down waterfowl targets in a more “clean” fashion, and does not pull as many feathers into the wound channel as lead shot might.
