About Mossberg Firearms
Founded in 1919 by Swedish immigrant Oscar Frederick Mossberg in New Haven, Connecticut, O.F. Mossberg & Sons is a renowned American firearms manufacturer with a long and distinguished history that spans over a century.
One of Mossberg's earliest successes that laid the foundation for Mossberg's reputation for innovative designs was introducing the Mossberg Brownie pistol in 1919. The Brownie was a four-barreled, .22 caliber pistol known for its compact size and simplicity.
However, it was in the 1950s that Mossberg introduced their greatest success - the Mossberg 500. The Mossberg 500 was a pump-action shotgun designed for various applications, including hunting, home defense, and law enforcement.
The 500 series became highly popular due to its reliability, affordability, and availability in various configurations and gauges.
Over the years, Mossberg continued to expand its product line by introducing additional shotgun models, including the Mossberg 590 and 930 series.
Additionally, in 2015, Mossberg introduced an affordable bolt-action rifle with various caliber chamberings and features.
Today, Mossberg remains a family-owned and operated business, with fourth-generation family members continuing to guide the company's commitment to producing reliable, durable, and affordable firearms.
