300 Blackout Ammo / 300 AAC
About 300 Blackout / 300 AAC Ammo
Designed in 2009 and first introduced in 2010, 300 AAC Blackout ammo is an intermediate cartridge developed in the United States by Advanced Armament Corporation (AAC) for use in the M4 carbine.
The cartridge yields increased performance in shorter barrels and effective subsonic performance for suppressor use compared to 5.56mm NATO. Except for the barrel, 300 AAC Blackout utilizes standard 5.56mm NATO magazines and components.
While 5.56×45 NATO has relished widespread acceptance in military circles, the nature of various missions encountered by special operations groups often demands a caliber that provides more adequate performance.
To satisfy this need, the 300 AAC Blackout was developed. The caliber has a relatively small projectile with a high velocity that maintains performance at range and is designed to work with or without suppressors.
