About MEC Outdoors

Mayville Engineering Company (MEC) was founded in 1945 by Ted Bachhuber and his Uncle Leo in a rented garage building in Mayville, Wisconsin.

The company began as a tool and die shop with minimal assets - just worn metal working tools, a little cash, and grand ideas.

In 1955, Ted Bachhuber's passion for trap shooting and invention led MEC into the shotshell reloader market, transforming the company's direction.

Over 75 years later, MEC has manufactured more than 2 million shotshell reloaders worldwide and holds the distinction of creating the "World's #1 Shotshell Reloader" - the MEC 600 Jr.

Today, MEC Outdoors operates as a 100% employee-owned company, maintaining their commitment to American manufacturing excellence in Mayville, Wisconsin.
