About Safariland

Founded in 1964 by Neale Perkins in his Sierra Madre, California garage, Safariland began when Perkins created a custom holster for his father's African safari excursions.

The company was named after those memorable safari adventures and has grown from humble beginnings into a global leader in tactical equipment and protective gear.

In the 1970s, Safariland revolutionized law enforcement safety by bringing the first commercially available soft body armor to market.

The company pioneered retention holster technology in the 1980s, creating the first true duty retention holster with FBI agent Bill Rogers.

Today, Safariland operates under the mission "Together, We Save Lives®" and has documented over 2,000 public safety professionals whose lives have been saved using their products through the SAVES CLUB®.
