The Midwest Industries upper receiver rod serves as an essential instrument for the installation and removal of barrel nuts, particularly when dealing with tough or seized nuts, all while ensuring the upper remains unharmed. This tool is also ideal for fitting muzzle devices, as it protects the index pin from damage. Designed for versatility, the receiver rod can be positioned either horizontally or vertically in a bench vise and is compatible with any standard M4/M16 barrel extension. It is important to note that this rod is not suitable for use with 9mm and rimfire barrels, nor is it compatible with DPMS G2 308. Among its features, this tool can be utilized for the installation of forward assists and port door covers. It works seamlessly with both forged and billet upper receivers. Constructed from 4140 Ordnance grade steel, it boasts a durable black oxide finish, ensuring longevity and reliability. Additionally, sights mounted on the receiver can remain in place during use.
