About Dan Wesson Firearms

Dan Wesson Firearms was founded in 1968 by Daniel B. Wesson II, the great-grandson of Daniel B. Wesson who co-founded Smith & Wesson in 1852.

The company began in Monson, Massachusetts, with Dan Wesson's perfectionist philosophy that "You can never be fully satisfied. You can always make something better."

In 1969, Dan Wesson released their first revolver, the Model 12 .357 Magnum, followed by revolutionary switch-barrel revolvers in the 1970s that changed the handgun industry.

The company transitioned to premium 1911 pistols in 2000 and was acquired by CZ-USA in 2005, providing stability and resources for continued growth.

Today, Dan Wesson Firearms produces only a few thousand handguns annually, with each part painstakingly hand-fit and polished to deliver custom-level quality with production efficiency.
