Action Target Inc. was founded in 1986 in Provo, Utah by Kyle Bateman and Addison Sovine.

The company began with a specialized pneumatic turning-target system created for the Provo Police Department's training curriculum.

In 1992, Action Target launched the Law Enforcement Training Camp (LETC), an annual four-day training event for officers nationwide.
