The Bodyguard .38 is a quality choice! .............
Advantages
An Exceptional Carry Revolver! Although I am well used to the side cylinder release for fast clearing and speed loading, the topside cylinder release is very handy and fast as well. Having wide and thick palms I actually prefer the narrow style grips to be able to completely muscle and control during fast firing. This style grip is exactly why I collect old Ruger Police Service Six revolvers with their stock, thin grips, even for competition matches back in my old law enforcement academy Firearms Instructor days, doing stock revolver matches.
Disadvantages
The only changes I would have might be a 3" barrel option and a .357 magnum chambering. I would not state any reasonable disadvantages at all. The price is also a nice change of pace nowadays with so many revolvers practically running at $1k ! With a stiff leather pocket holster it can be drawn from my front pocket in a flash! I actually have a Fred Perrin push dagger mounted on the innermost outside of the holster as an extra back up. Simple to do with outdoor 50lb strength Gorilla Glue double sided tape. I have been using this set up for many, many years.

The Bodyguard .38 is a great and lightweight concealed carry firearm. It often sits in the right front pocket where only my old S&W 340PD Titanium/Scandium .357 mag has been the other revolver to carry, since 2003, in the same pocket holster. It has no sag from weight to profile when carried this way with either of these 2 lightweight revolvers and the casual hand partly in the pocket has been drawn more than once to prevent a suddenly changing situation. I prefer an alternating mix of maximum expansion rounds and fragmenting rounds. Underwood and Liberty Civil Defense are two favorites. It is my personal preference, but long ago I trained my hands, by slow & deliberate practice, to be ambidextrous with any and all handguns. Therefore I often have a ready and loaded pocket holster in each front pocket. I highly recommend this. I have been an Honor Grad of 2 L/E academies, a "Top Gun"/Class Leader, worked 3 L/E agencies, as a Government Security Contractor, served in the USMC/USN/US Army, competed in rifle, machine gun, handgun, riot shotgun matches, FBI certified L/E Firearms Instructor, Defensive Tactics Instructor, multiple martial arts, stopped 2 "tango" events and ended a personal home invasion attempt off duty. I know a good weapon, brothers!
