About Phalanx Defense Systems

Phalanx Defense Systems was founded in October 2012 following a tragic incident where Detective Matt Hanlin was shot and Detective David White was killed while investigating a meth lab in Middleburg.

The company was established by James Coats, John Perkins, and Justin Mowitz with a mission to create life-saving technologies for law enforcement and first responders.

Founded at the Gainesville Regional Airport in Florida, the company has grown to become a respected manufacturer of ballistic protection equipment serving law enforcement, military, and public safety sectors.

The City of Gainesville proclaimed March 19, 2015 as "Phalanx Defense Systems Day" in recognition of their contributions to public safety and law enforcement protection.

Today, Phalanx Defense Systems continues to focus on advanced materials science and user-validated design to protect those who serve our communities.
