The M118LR, or Long Range 7.62x51 round, is a 175-grain open-tip match cartridge that will extend your 308/7.62x51 capability by adding grain weight and reducing air friction. This cartridge can go further than other 308 or 7.62x51 loads due to the heavier grain weight retaining its velocity longer, but also the bullet itself cuts through the air easier. For these reasons, the M118LR was adopted as the long-range sniping cartridge of choice for the US Military for many years.
