About EMF Company

EMF Company (Early & Modern Firearms) has been dedicated to providing high-quality historical firearms replicas since 1956.

Founded by E.W. Spinney Jr. and E.W. Spinney Sr. in Los Angeles, California, the company originally emerged to supply the demand for Western Frontier, Civil War, and World War period guns seen in movies and television shows.

In 1959, EMF acquired Great Western Arms Company to manufacture the first reproduction of the famous Colt Model 1873 SAA when Colt Firearms discontinued production of single action revolvers.

Under the leadership of Boyd A. Davis, who joined in 1971 and became President in 1980, EMF pioneered Italian firearm imports into the U.S. and co-founded the Single Action Shooting Society (SASS) in 1981.

Today, EMF continues to combine authentic historical design with modern manufacturing standards, celebrating over 65 years of serving Western enthusiasts, collectors, and cowboy action shooters worldwide.
