About Break Free

Break Free was developed in 1973 by Don Yoder, the company's Technical Director, who sought to create a superior lubricant and rust inhibitor for extreme conditions.

Originally created when Yoder was running a hard-anodizing operation where sulfuric acid fumes caused rapid metal corrosion, the formula was designed to penetrate to base metal and provide long-lasting protection.

Break Free CLP became the first product to meet and pass the stringent U.S. Military MIL-SPEC 63460F Type-A requirements in 1971.
