Several months ago, my Son-in-law, lost his last Grandfather. He was left his Grandfather's "Colt" duty pistol, chambered in .357 magnum with a three (3) inch barrel. Being unsure of what ammunition to run through the weapon, my daughter asked if I would speak to him about the gun. Being only too happy to talk with him, we discussed the weapon, and spoke of which situations he might find himself using the gun in self defense or the defense of his family. After that talk, I suggested a couple of options, and bought what I thought fit his needs best. Our friends at "Ammunition Depot", had a good supply of the ammunition I was looking for, to include the "Critical Defense" line of "Hornady" brand. As barriers could be an issue, the 125 grain, FTX JHP was a clear choice and I picked up a couple of boxes. As neccessary, we had to see if the weapon was going to like this ammunition choice and see how close the POI (point of impact) is to the POA (point of aim). As the old "Colt" is a revolver, feeding, extraction and ejection issues are of low concern. But some guns are finiky, but this "Colt" loves the "Hornady" "Critical Defense", 125 grain rounds and my Son-in-law ( and my daughter) where happy.
