More Accuracy Than I Expected!
I bought several boxes of these " Federal", Game-Shok CPSP (copper plated, soft points), .22LR rounds to fire from my "Mossberg", model 144, with 26" bull barrel in the fourth week of May. I run a "BSA" 3-9x X40mm A.O. (Adjustable Objective) scope that comes with three diferent elevation turrets. One for each of the three main weights in this caliber, 40grain, 38 gain and 36 grain, which allows the scope to be "tuned" (specifically compensating) for the bullet weight. At my local indoor, 50 yard, range, from my mounted bipod, I shoot ten (10) shots each at the four corner bullseyes and finally ten (10) rounds at the center. I was able to put all ten shots, from the last set within a one inch square! Considering these "Federal" Game-Shok rounds are priced like bulk ammunition, from my perticular, 75+ year old weapon, I achieved much more accuracy than I expected. I shoot a sheet, like I discribed, twice, at different times of year, for any ammunition I plan to shoot through the rifle. Realizing all the various options there are in this caliber, I've got work to do! Once done I then have a documented resource I can, and have, written down that anyone, with access to the rifle, can use my range data cards. These cards tell them what adjustments to make to the scope dials, from an established zero, to put rounds on target from the first shot. If your interested in having this process explained in greater detail, drop a note to our friends at "Ammunition Depot" and we'll see what we can work out. Please join me in thanking our friends at "AmDep" who make all these wide ranging caliber, weight and speed options available to us at awesome prices. If you should try some products from "Ammunition Depot", you will find, as I did, a company that goes above and beyond for its customers. Stay alert, stay aware and stay safe.
