Speer Gold Dot .25 ACP 35 Grain HP

When John M. Browning developed the .25 Automatic Colt Pistol cartridge (aka 6.35mm) in 1905, he did so with the intention of creating a reliable round that could be used is a simple, and compact blow back design handgun. Why not use a .22LR? Rimfire ammunition, especially at the time, was not always reliable because of primer seating, and for use in a personal defense and concealable handgun (it is no accident that such pistols became popular as gun laws became more stringent), reliability was key. The 35 grain hollow point bullet by Speer leaves the muzzle at up to 900 feet per second with 63 foot pounds of energy. It is one of the best personal defense rounds available in this caliber, with reloadable, boxer primed nickel plated cases.

Speer Gold Dot ammunition is one of the most trusted defense ammunition manufacturers on the market: so consistent is it that it is often used for testing new firearms to measure performance against a consistent established factor.
