Speer's Gold Dot Hollow Point is one of the best self-defense rounds available today. A top choice of law enforcement agencies across the country, the Gold Dot uses a patented process that forms the hollow point cavity in two stages. The core is pre-fluted to define the "fault" lines of expansion, controlling final diameter and retained weight. The second process finishes the cavity and controls the rate of expansion. Select, clean burning propellants deliver optimum velocity while ensuring consistent chamber pressures. Non-corrosive CCI primers are used for highly sensitive and reliable performance, as well as nickel plated brass cases for smooth feeding and durability. These technical features allow Speer's engineers to fine tune each specific caliber and bullet weight for maximum field performance.

The only round for me
Why would anyone serious carry less than +P+? The recoil difference is negligible. I stagger these with standard pressure rounds, and though I can feel the slight difference, it doesn't affect my timing or bullet placement. The velocity of of the 9mm 115gr Gold Dot +P+ is almost that of the 357 SIG! Plus this is a Gold Dot Bullet! I would expect to pay $25 for an box of 25 rounds, & SPEER makes it 50. The Gold Dot is respected and blessed by almost every agency. My EDC Beretta 92 never leaves home without the extra power of this round. As a bonded bullet, the lead doesn't separate from the jacket, like the old school 9mm 115 gr +p+ Federal 9BPLE. The box has a warning the check with the gun manufacture to insure your firearm can handle the +P+. The +P+ doesn't have a SAAMI ratings, so NO manufacture will say their gun can handle the load. I use these in modern, full size, duty firearms, and never in a lightweight compact gun.

You cannot beat this price for top quality Speer Gold Dot. I'm not one to endlessly debate which bullet weight is best, or whether +P or +P+ is better than standard loads. I'm confidant this load will put the hurt on an attacker.

Just the basics.
Speer Gold Dot ammunition is no longer cutting edge in some peoples minds. I shot my first .45 ACP deer with it both sides through lungs, using the old 200 grain Lawman JHP load. Bullet size in, dime size out. The +p+ 9mm used to be not available to civilians, no longer the case. I am getting some familiarization fire with remanufactured ammo, then I'll try the Speer ammo for self defense and carry in my Springfield Armory XD-9 5" tactical.
