Product Details

Introduced in 1934 as an improved revolver round for law enforcement that often found itself outgunned, the .357 Magnum cartridge became quite popular with sportsmen, both as a primary hunting round as well as a personal protection back up both in the field and on the streets. Law enforcement too, still rely on the cartridge when it comes to dealing with potentially hardened targets. Built from a lengthened .38 Special case with a larger primer, the magnum continues to maintain an important role for personal defense, despite the Age of the 9mm. The 135 grain jacketed hollow point by Speer leaves the muzzle at 990 feet per second with 294 foot pounds of energy. It is specifically designed for use out of compact revolvers to squeeze every ounce of ballistic energy from the short barrels.

When it comes to personal defense ammunition, skimping on price or going with just any round is an ill advised move. Speer’s bonded JHP bullets will not shed their jackets on penetration and expansion, guaranteeing maximum potential for penetration. When using a personal defense firearm for that purpose, having to use extra shots to finish the job is the last thing that should need to be done, especially in such potentially limited capacity revolvers.
