Propellent

The propellent is the fuel in a cartridge that ignites when the primer explodes behind it, and it provides the burst of energy that will send the projectile off at lethal speeds, allowing firearms to be used in the manner we use them. Without the advanced propellants that are in use today long-range projectiles would be pointless, and longe-range hunting and competition would not exist.
